Happy Purim!
Purim celebrates the salvation of the Jewish people, in the year 3405 in the Jewish calendar (356 BCE), from Haman's plot "to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews." Purim is observed each year on the 14th of Adar, celebrating the deliverance of the Jewish people from the wicked Haman in the days of Queen Esther of Persia, as described in the book of Esther. It is customary on Purim to listen to the reading of the Purim story, give to the needy, send gift-baskets of food to friends, and eat/drink/be merry.
Chabad of Bucktown/Wicker Park invites you to join in the festivities complete with open bar and falafel buffet. Wear a costume, make a L'Chaim, and come boo Hamen during the reading of the traditional Purim story.
